Re-inventing a UK department store’s entire range

In 2008, we helped one of the UK’s most respected high street department stores reinvent their tableware, bakeware and storage business. We provided a customised design through-delivery solution which incorporated their own brands as well as many venerable and famous licensed brands from around the world.

The categories we developed and produced ranged from entry level to promotional, core and upwards to high-fashion, formal and decorator solutions. We used a range of materials including earthenware, stoneware, porcelain and fine bone china which were decorated using hand painting, wax resist, pad print, reactive glazes and decals.

Our long term-relationship with this client means we’re integral to their trending forecasting, product development and supply chain across their 60 UK stores.

South African supplier problem solved

South Africa’s most prestigious retail group was having difficulty managing their tabletop product development and suppliers in China. Stoneage was asked to help and through our long-standing relationships, logistics and presence on the ground in China, we were able to provide them with the stability, flexibility, quality and delivery performance they were seeking.

Our design and trending capability gave our client a targeted and exclusive solution for their product development which perfectly met their market and needs. We remain their supplier of choice after 4 years of service.

A complete ceramic solution for Australia

We collaborated with the general merchandise department of one of Australia’s largest chain stores to create a new, in-house brand. We then designed and manufactured a complete ceramic range which was available to our client through both domestic (EDI replenishment) and direct import supply.

New brands for New Zealand

We worked with New Zealand’s largest discount department store to create new brands and products to cover casual and promotional categories.

Our design team created two brands to help differentiate different fashion, price points and quality levels. We then went about populating these brands with the product to drive them.

Flexible enough for the small guys

In 2005, we helped a small Canadian sole proprietor develop the flexibility – and breadth of range and design – to begin importing products for their 8 stores directly from China.

Huge challenge delivered on time and on budget

One of the world’s largest grocery retailers with over 800 stores challenged us to develop a targeted ceramic tableware, bakeware and storage solution to debut under a new corporate brand. Our bespoke designs graced over 2 million individual pieces across 183 SKU’s. We were also delighted to achieve more than 99% compliance across delivery, quality, labelling and packaging. The program was delivered from conception to shipment in just over 6 months despite stringent auditing standards for social and technical compliance.

Helping a bakeware brand broaden their horizons

Stoneage was approached by one of the worlds’ leading bakeware brands to create a serious contender in the ceramic oven-to-tableware category. The project brief involved stringent product performance, quality and packaging standards supported by watertight ethical and technical audits. We successfully delivered a comprehensive solution across many shapes from salt pigs to batter jugs, measuring spoons, bakers, casseroles and so on. Five years later, sales continue to grow across a program of some 160 SKU’s.

Opening New doors for existing housewares wholesalers

We’ve helped several importers and wholesalers in many countries enter the tableware category for the first time by providing off-the-shelf solutions and combinations which enabled them to present a meaningful range and branding statement to their domestic markets utilising their current supply channels.
